I am deeply honoured that the Church of Scotland's Scots Language in Worship Group have made great use of this blog by selecting two pieces for their own use:
• Dark Afore Dawnin by Etta Gracey Stoee was chosen to be included in their Advent 2008 programme, with the language reworked to suit the tune The Road and the Miles to Dundee ( Original | CoS version )
• Linkin Hame by Alexander Halliday was chosen for their Easter Holy Week 2009 programme, edited for congregational singing. ( Original | CoS version )
It's very rewarding to know that a wee bit of Ulster effort can be of benefit to the folks back in Scotland.

About This Site:
This is a blog by Mark Thompson (Chairman of the Ulster-Scots Agency June 05 - June 09) to publish a growing collection of old Scots language hymns and gospel songs collected over the last few years from people in Ulster and Scotland, some from old hymnals long since out of print, and some from oral folk tradition. Where musical notation was supplied, it has been included here; spellings are unedited from the originals. The blog is named after the 1920s Glasgow hymnal Sacred Scotch Solos by Alexander Halliday.
